Park Host

Jubilee Park, Cave Junction

Jubilee Park is located in the City of Cave Junction, the gateway to Oregon Caves National Monument, and on the main travel corridor between Crater Lake National Park and Redwood National Park. The park is growing in size and popularity and park staff needs help with all of the work that comes with these positive changes.  

The Jubilee Park host site has a chain link fenced enclosure with security lights and hookups for water, electric, sewage. The baseball field and tennis courts are seen in the distant center of the image with the stage on the right. Click image to see enlargement.

The RV site and all utilities are paid for by the City. The host works as a volunteer and should have their own income. No stipend is offered for volunteers working in this position. Volunteers are covered by Workman’s Compensation for all work they have been assigned to do at the park. No coverage is offered for injury when not working on assigned duties.

All applicants for host positions are subject to a background check.

The host works a minimum of 20 hours per week or an average of four hours per day for five days a week. When in the park, the host is expected to keep an eye on the park during the day or night and report incidents to law enforcement.  

Duties include emptying trash cans, picking up litter, cleaning restrooms, and doing general landscape work to include mowing and watering lawns. Volunteers must go through training for some duties. 

A City vehicle will be available for work related driving. Volunteers must have a valid driving license to operate these vehicles. 

All volunteer hosts are required to sign a volunteer agreement. 

The Park Host application is set up for a husband-wife applicants but can also be used for single or unmarried couples. The husband fills out one side of the page and the wife fills the other side. If you are a single applicant, fill out one side and leave the other half blank. Submit all applications to the Cave Junction City Clerk:

The town’s main street is located two blocks from the park and has restaurants, coffee shops, grocery store, pharmacy, laundry, post office, and other services. A medical clinic is less than a mile north of the park.

All of the valley’s public schools are located within the city limits including elementary, middle, and high school, which are all within a half mile walk of the park. There is also a Head Start and Early Head Start program located less than a half mile from the park. A Community College has a branch located about two miles north of town.

A Senior Center with more than 900 members is located within a half mile walk of the park and offers many activities and classes.

Social activities and events happen throughout the year in Cave Junction with many of these happening in Jubilee Park (Concerts in the Park, Farmers Market, baseball games, Children Fair (May), Classic Auto Show (June), Labor Day Festival (Labor Day weekend), and much more).  You can find more information about events in the Valley at Illinois Valley Web 

Some of the restaurants in Cave Junction have music on Friday and Saturdays or open mic on Wednesdays.

The Illinois Valley Golf Course is a mile north of the park and Illinois River Forks State Park is located a mile south of town.

Kerbyville Museum is located two miles north of town and the historic Siskyou Smokejumper Base Museum is four miles to the south.

Cave Junction is the gateway to Oregon Caves National Monument, a national park unit located in the mountains about 20 miles east of town. There are three wilderness areas all within a 25 mile driving distance of the park. The wild and scenic Illinois River corridor starts five miles north of town and goes through some of the most rugged and isolated white water rafting in the nation. The wild and scenic Rogue River is located 30 miles north of Cave Junction with world class salmon fishing. The Smith River National Recreation Area with the wild and scenic Smith River is located 20 miles to the south of town and is well known for its astonishing clarity and steelhead fishing. Redwood State and National Park is located 45 miles south of Cave Junction and the port town of Crescent City with beaches and Tolowa Dunes State Park is 55 miles. A 40 mile drive from Cave Junction on the Jefferson State Scenic Byway takes you east over the mountains to the Klamath River.
