Dollar Mountain Trail

Dollar Mountain Trail, Grants Pass, Oregon

Dollar Mountain Trail passes through oak woodland.

This is a well marked trail that climbs for a mile through an oak woodland to the top of Dollar Mountain overlooking Grants Pass and the Rogue River Valley, Oregon. The trail begins with a fairly even grade but later becomes steep as it climbs the last part of the slope to the top of Dollar Mountain. At the place where the trail first becomes steep, there is a fork in the trail. The trail to the right is the one you will want to follow and switchbacks to climb a steep slope. The other trail that goes straight up the mountain is a well worn shortcut that people coming down have used to cut the switchback. After the switchback, the trail levels out briefly and then begins a steep climb to the summit. Once at the summit, you have the choice of returning down the trail or following the service road from the radio tower down the other side of Dollar Mountain to a paved road. Turn right and follow this road back to Crescent Street where you turn right again to go back to your parked vehicle.
