The Jefferson State Byway Road Guide provides information for the first 12 miles of the road but you will need a Forest Service map to find the roads that take you to Poker Flat.

Trail Description

The trail from Poker Flat follows an abandoned prospecting road and is well marked and easy to follow. The final mile of the hike drops down a relatively steep grade to Twin Valley. At Twin Valley the road becomes indistinguishable and to continue to Lieutenant Lake, you will need to cross the meadow to the trees on the other side. The trailhead is not well marked but once you find it is fairly well defined.
