Pierce Riffle Nature Trail, Grants Pass, Oregon

Pierce Riffle Nature Trail, Rogue River, Grants Pass, OregonThis trail once had wood walkways and brush was probably kept well trimmed during that time. The wood platforms were lost in a flood and not replaced. The components that remain are not usable and sections of the old trail have been removed. Nevertheless, the trial has a slight "jungle" feel to it makes an interesting, short walk.

Directions

From Highway 199 (also known as the Grants Pass Parkway in Grants Pass) the easiest way to find the park is to turn east on F Street and drive about a half mile to the stop sign at Agness Street. Continue straight ahead. The road changes its name from F Street to Foothill Blvd. Foothill goes under the freeway, parallels the freeway for a short distance and then goes under the freeway again as it starts to go down hill toward a large, flat open area near the Rogue River. Averill Street is on the right within a half a mile after going under the freeway. Turn on Averill and follow it for about a half mile to the entrance Pierce Riffle Park on the right.

Trail Notes

Pierce Riffle Nature Trail Map, Grants Pass, Oregon

The only part of the trail network that has been kept open is marked by the yellow line. The section of trail at "J" is completely closed due to a failed bridge. The section going toward "M" is poorly defined and becomes completely overgrown a short distance away from the rest of the trail.
