Forks of the Illinois River State Park
Disc Golf Project
Cave Junction is located on Highway 199 in southwest Oregon and is one of the few communities in this state with a state park immediately adjacent to its municipal border. The development of a disc golf course would provide residents and youth with a significant recreational facility that will increase community quality of life, provide for outdoor recreation opportunities, and increase tourist spending in local businesses by attracting visitation from outside the community.
The state park gets it name from the confluence of the two main forks of the Illinois River at the point where the park is located. About four miles north, the river enters the wild and scenic corridor that goes through botanical areas and the Kalmiopsis Wilderness. The origins of the river’s watershed include Red Buttes Wilderness, Oregon Caves National Monument, Siskiyou Wilderness, and Kalmiopsis Wilderness.
