2011 Banner Project – BANNERS SOLD OUT
During our 4th annual quilt show in 2011 we started to move in the direction of making this a community wide event. We decided to ask the City of Cave Junction if we could replace the current flag pole banners with quilt show banners for the two weeks prior to our quilt show. With approval, we then started contacting businesses for sponsorship of those flags. We were truly humbled and overwhelmed by the support of the local business community. Each flag is two sided and displays the name and/or logo of the sponsoring individual or business. For their donation, the flag will be displayed every year before the quilt show. When we came up with this idea we were hoping to sell half of the 22 spots available but ALL 22 were sold in the first year!
Collaborating with local businesses
In addition, as a way to show pride in our community and to entice out-of-town visitors to patronize our local businesses, we asked them to offer a “quilt show special” to quilt show attendees who came into their business after visiting the show. Again, the response was remarkable with 20 businesses participating, including a gas station, bakery, produce stand, restaurants, coffee stands, and even a thrift store.
